SACRED PATH RETREATS

The Sacred Path Retreats were developed 20 years ago through a vision by Dr. Stephen Johnson, director of the Men’s Center of Los Angeles, a full service counseling center for men. We believe in the premise of “bringing good men together and bringing out the best in them.” The retreats offer an opportunity to examine and process complicated, challenging, and rewarding aspects facing men in contemporary society. We create a space for safety, support, and sharing for men to come together and realizing our authenticity, and experience deeper and powerful levels of masculinity.

Each retreat works within a powerful, relevant theme, and features a rich variety of activities utilizing

  • a “talking stick” council,
  • group and community discussions,
  • psychological processes,
  • Breathwork,
  • physical activities,
  • a collective group empowerment ritual,
  • drumming and sound healing,
  • as well as work with ancient stories,
  • contemporary writings,
  • poetry,
  • and creative movement.

We also offer Traditional Native American Sweat Lodge. The retreats are organized and produced by the “Wisdom Council,” a core group of seasoned and committed retreat veterans with the Men’s Center. Sacred Path is offered every 6 months at the fabulous Malibu Hilltop Camp with a breathtaking view, swimming pool, ropes course, hiking trails, excellent food, and comfortable accommodations.

Additionally, special one day events are offered, as well as the annual spring “Call to Adventure” rights of passage mentoring retreat for young men and adolescent boys, through the Millennium Oaks Institute, a non profit aspect of the Men’s Center. Come join us and experience the power, grace and dignity of being a man on the Path. Making the world a more respectable, safe and dignified place, one man at a time.
